MERVYN WILSON FROM DUFFTOWN FINED FOR POSSESSING EXTREME BESTIALITY DVD IN SCOTLAND
In a case that has drawn attention to the serious issue of illegal pornography, Mervyn Wilson, a 63-year-old resident of Dufftown, was found guilty of possessing an extremely graphic and illegal DVD depicting bestiality. The incident came to light during a police search of Wilson’s residence, which took place on July 14 of the previous year.During the search, law enforcement officials discovered the DVD hidden among various documents in an office space within Wilson’s home. The explicit nature of the content was immediately apparent, prompting further legal action. The authorities presented the case in Elgin Sheriff Court, where Wilson appeared to face the charges.
At the court hearing, the prosecution was led by Fiscal Alison Wylie, who displayed the cover of the DVD to the court, emphasizing that the cover alone was sufficient to illustrate the nature of the material. Wylie explained that the DVD contained highly explicit content involving bestiality, which is illegal under Scottish law.
Wilson admitted to owning the DVD during the proceedings. His defense solicitor, Brent Lockie, provided context for the purchase, stating that Wilson had bought the DVD from a street market in Thailand back in 2003. Lockie described Wilson’s reasons for acquiring the material as driven by “morbid curiosity,” and noted that Wilson had not disposed of the DVD even after it became illegal in 2011.
The court heard that Wilson’s actions were a violation of laws concerning extreme pornography. Sheriff Donald Ferguson addressed the court, remarking on the rarity of such cases, and expressed relief that these are infrequent occurrences in the judicial system. Despite the unusual nature of the offense, the sheriff emphasized the importance of upholding the law.
In the end, Wilson was fined £400 for possessing the illegal material. The sentence reflects the seriousness with which the Scottish legal system treats the possession of extreme pornography, especially content involving animals, which is considered a grave offense. Wilson’s case serves as a reminder of the legal boundaries surrounding explicit material and the importance of law enforcement in addressing such violations.
