LEEDS MAN CAUGHT WITH CHILD ABUSE IMAGES AVOIDS JAIL

A Leeds man named Mehran Mowlude, aged 19, was found in possession of extremely disturbing images depicting children engaged in sexual activities. Police responded to a tip-off in April of the previous year, executing a search warrant at his residence on Airedale Court in Seacroft. During the investigation, officers seized his internet devices and discovered a total of 112 photos and videos. Among these, 54 were classified as Category A, the most serious, including child rape material; 19 were Category B; 37 were Category C; and there were two illegal images of children. Mowlude was using Telegram, an encrypted messaging application, to conduct his illicit activities. He later pleaded guilty to three counts of creating indecent photos, three of possessing indecent images, and one of possessing forbidden images. Despite the severity of the images, Mowlude avoided immediate jail time, with the court instead imposing a two-year community order complemented by 30 rehabilitation days. The judge expressed disapproval, describing his behavior as disgraceful and indicative of a sexual interest in children, with suspicion he had also shared these images. Mowlude was placed on the sex offender registry for five years and restricted from using the internet for five years via a sexual harm prevention order. The court's decision was influenced by his guilty pleas, which prevented a custodial sentence, though the judge highlighted that he believed he should have faced more serious charges.
