DONCASTER MAN JAILED FOR EXPLOITING VULNERABLE TEEN ONLINE

A man from Balby Bridge has been sentenced to a year in jail after using social media platforms to contact a girl with learning difficulties who was seeking friendship. Mehmet Yumusak, aged 46, pleaded guilty to engaging in sexual communication with a child and encouraging a girl aged 13 to 15 to engage in sexual activity without penetration. His crimes came to light when the victim's mother reported to police that her daughter had been speaking to an older man called MT on TikTok and Likee, where Yumusak discussed dating her, asked her to visit his house, and made statements such as "love you" and "miss you." Police investigations revealed that Yumusak had sent explicit images and asked her to delete the messages. He was later identified through the photos he sent, and his devices were seized for analysis. The court also ordered three counts of making an indecent photograph of a child and one count of possessing extreme pornographic material to remain on file, although Yumusak entered not guilty pleas regarding these. Additionally, he received a 10-year restraining order and a 10-year Sexual Harm Prevention Order, prohibiting internet device use. Police stated that Yumusak was aware of the age difference and encouraged the girl to exchange explicit images, then instructed her to delete all messages. Officer Fiona Booth emphasized that Yumusak targeted a vulnerable young girl unaware of the dangers of online communication and described his motives as much darker than her initial intentions for friendship. She praised the victim and her family for their support and encouraged anyone concerned about online abuse to report it. The offending was uncovered through digital forensic analysis after Yumusak’s devices were seized during his arrest.
