MEHBOOB MIAN SENTENCED TO 12 YEARS IN LUTON FOR RAPE AND ASSAULT

In a significant legal case that has sent shockwaves through the community of Luton, Mehboob Miah has been handed down a prison sentence of twelve years after being found guilty of heinous crimes committed in September 2022.

According to court records, the 39-year-old resident of Warden Hill Road in Luton deliberately targeted a woman he knew, actively seeking her out with the intent to commit a brutal assault. The court heard that Miah’s actions were not impulsive but calculated, as he went out of his way to locate his victim within the city and carry out his attack.

During the sentencing hearing, the presiding judge did not hold back in describing Miah’s dangerous nature. The judge characterized him as a 'dangerous risk to women,' highlighting the severity of his conduct and the threat he poses to the safety of others. Miah was convicted on multiple charges, including rape, attempted rape, assault by penetration, possession of steroids, and coercive and controlling behavior.

The sentence handed down was comprehensive: twelve years for the rape conviction, with an additional three years on licence to follow his release. He also received concurrent sentences for the related crimes, reflecting the gravity and multiplicity of his offenses.

Commenting on the case, Detective Sergeant Joanna Tyrrell expressed her commendation for the victim’s bravery in coming forward. She emphasized that no woman should ever feel unsafe or vulnerable, and assured the public that law enforcement agencies will continue to pursue and bring to justice individuals like Miah who commit such serious crimes.
