MEGAN GREEN FROM BRIGG CONVICTED OF HORSE CRUELTY IN EAST RIDING OF YORKSHIRE

Megan Green, a resident of River View Caravan Park on Mill Lane in Brigg, has been found guilty of multiple charges related to the mistreatment and cruelty towards three horses. The conviction stems from a series of neglectful acts that caused significant suffering to the animals under her care.

Green’s offenses primarily involved neglecting the health and well-being of a thoroughbred mare named Imi. She failed to seek or provide necessary veterinary treatment for Imi’s severe and chronic wounds. These untreated wounds became infected with bacteria, which led to the mare falling seriously ill and eventually collapsing. The neglect also extended to her failure to maintain Imi’s overall condition, which is crucial for a horse’s health and vitality.

In addition to her neglect of Imi, Green was also responsible for the poor condition of a Shetland pony named Tidler. She did not ensure that Tidler maintained an appropriate body condition, which is essential for the health and comfort of ponies. Her neglect was not limited to nutrition and health but also included inadequate hoof care for other horses, specifically Tidler, Maverick, and Zac, all of whom are geldings. These horses were kept in conditions that did not meet basic standards of care, further highlighting the extent of her neglect.

The incidents of neglect took place at King Street Paddocks, located in Oakley Carr, Woodmansey, within the East Riding of Yorkshire. The failure to provide proper veterinary attention and hoof care was also documented at Mill Lane in Brigg, where she neglected to maintain the hoof health of Maverick and Zac, compounding her violations of animal welfare laws.

In sentencing, Green was ordered to undertake ten days of rehabilitation activities, emphasizing the seriousness of her offenses. She was also required to pay costs amounting to £300 and an additional surcharge of £85. Furthermore, she received a ban from keeping any equine animals for a period of ten years, a measure intended to prevent further neglect and protect future animals from her care.
