A 73-year-old man named Alan Beaumont from Burnside, Broughton, near Brigg, engaged in online sexual misconduct by sending an intimate image of himself to a police officer he believed was a 13-year-old girl.
He showned clear sexual interest by describing the decoy as "cute and sexy," requesting photos, and encouraging her to play with herself, after inviting her into private conversations on platforms like Google Hangout.
The police seized his mobile phone and computer, which revealed the communications.
Beaumont denied the offenses during his arrest, which was delayed due to the Covid pandemic, but he was convicted by a jury after a trial.
At Grimsby Crown Court, he was described as "seedy" and "arrogant and insulting".
The judge noted his low risk of re-offending and that the incidents occurred nearly five years prior, with no offenses since.
Beaumont was sentenced to a 14-month prison sentence, suspended for 18 months, and ordered to attend a program about healthy thinking.
He must also register as a sex offender for 10 years.
