SEX OFFENDER MAX SIMPKINS SENTENCED FOR BREACHING COURT ORDER AND ATTEMPTING TO TALK TO YOUNG GIRLS
Max Simpkins, aged 29 and residing at Eastwood End, Wimblington, near March, is a registered sex offender who violated a court-imposed strict supervision order.
He attempted to contact three young girls while performing an indecent act inside his vehicle.
The incident took place in Paynes Lane, Feltwell, Norfolk, around 5:20 pm on October 23, and was recorded on CCTV footage.
The girls, who were eight and nine years old, were approached by Simpkins driving a blue Mini Cooper, as he tried to converse with them.
Fearing for their safety, the children continued on their way and informed their parents, who then contacted the police.
Simpkins had admitted to breaching a sexual harm prevention order by having unsupervised interaction with minors.
He was sentenced on July 4 at Cambridge Crown Court to two years and six months in prison.
Detective Sonia Kauser remarked that officers examined the CCTV footage, which included Simpkins’s voice and words during the encounter.
She praised the children for their correct response and reiterated the police’s ongoing efforts to monitor sex offenders, regardless of where the offenses occur.
Despite believing he was unlikely to be caught because the offense was out of county, Simpkins was eventually detained and is now serving time in custody.
