A Norfolk-connected individual has been imprisoned after being convicted of assault and strangulation involving a woman.Bradley Thorpe, 32 years old, who does not have a fixed address but is linked to the counties of Norfolk and Suffolk, appeared before Cambridge Crown Court on June 24.
He received a prison term of three years for causing actual bodily harm, along with an 18-month sentence for intentionally strangling the victim, which will run concurrently.
A 20-year criminal behaviour order was also imposed on Thorpe to prevent further violence against women.
The order stipulates that he must cease all contact and communication with any woman in England and Wales upon request.
The assault happened in Feltwell in November 2024 and involved a single victim.
According to court reports, Thorpe assaulted her after an argument, punching her repeatedly, biting her nose, and strangling her.
The victim’s personal statement, read aloud during the court proceedings, reflected her suffering: 'In such a short time span I have been made into a shadow of myself.
I honestly wished on occasions that I was dead and I never let him in my life.
I am petrified to speak with people or introduce anyone new into my life over fear they could repeat what Bradley has done.' In response to the sentencing, Donna Wiseman from the Operational Partnership Team highlighted the brutality of the crime and the support offered to the victim.
Norfolk Police reiterated their dedication to supporting victims and thoroughly investigating all cases, aiming to bring offenders like Thorpe to justice.
