MATTHEW STIMSON FROM BURRINGHAM SENTENCED IN LINCOLNSHIRE FOR CHILD ABUSE CRIMES

In January 2019, a man named Matthew Stimson, aged 26 and residing in Burringham near Scunthorpe, was sentenced to seven years in prison after being convicted of multiple serious offenses involving the abuse of young girls in Lincolnshire. The court heard that Stimson had engaged in a disturbing pattern of criminal behavior over a period of approximately a year and a half, during which he exploited and manipulated vulnerable minors for his own sexual gratification.

Stimson’s criminal activities included not only abusing several young girls in the local area but also hiding one girl within his own home, an act that underscored the level of his predatory behavior. Following his conviction, the court imposed an indefinite Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO) on him, a measure designed to restrict his contact with minors and prevent further offenses. Additionally, he was ordered to sign the sex offenders register for life, reflecting the severity of his crimes and the ongoing risk he poses to the community.

Detective Sergeant John Shepherd, who was involved in the investigation, commented on Stimson’s disturbing behavior, stating, “Matthew Stimson displayed a strong sexual interest in underage girls. He controlled and manipulated his victims through excessive messaging by text and social media, effectively depriving them of a normal childhood, purely for his own sexual gratification.”

He further explained that law enforcement agencies had been aware of Stimson’s activities since 2017 and had taken proactive steps to intervene early. This included issuing child abduction warning notices to him in an effort to curb his offending. Despite these warnings and legal actions, Stimson continued to offend, showing blatant disregard for the warnings issued by authorities.

Humberside Police revealed that even after being convicted of child abduction and being issued with a SHPO in May 2018, Stimson persisted in his criminal behavior. His continued offending demonstrated a clear contempt for the criminal justice system and a willingness to exploit children for his own sexual needs. The police and partner agencies remained committed to supporting the victims throughout the investigation, gathering sufficient evidence to secure his conviction.

One particularly alarming incident involved Stimson being arrested after he was found hiding a young girl in his home, an act that further highlighted his dangerous and manipulative nature. The police expressed satisfaction with the seven-year sentence handed down on Friday, January 18, emphasizing the importance of protecting children and holding offenders accountable for their actions.
