TEACHER AT GEORGE AND CHARLOTTE'S OLD SCHOOL ADMITS CHILD SEXUAL ABUSE OFFENCES
A teacher at Prince George and Princess Charlotte’s former school has admitted a string of child sexual abuse offences.Matthew Smith, 34, accepted five charges relating to making and distributing indecent images of children.
It is understood that these charges do not pertain to his work at the £20,000-a-year Thomas’s Battersea school in south London.
Smith was deputy head of pastoral and had previous employment in Kathmandu, Nepal.
His role at Battersea was terminated immediately upon the school's discovery of the charges.
He pleaded guilty to all five counts in Westminster Magistrates Court, including causing or inciting the sexual abuse of a child under 13, distributing Category A indecent images, and three counts of making indecent images in categories A to C.
His south London home was raided on November 6, and he was arrested.
The investigation remains live, with early indications of significant online offending and international inquiries.
NCA Head of Child Sexual Abuse investigations, Tony Cook, emphasized the importance of this investigation against online and cross-border child sex abuse.
Smith, from East Dulwich, will be sentenced at Southwark Crown Court on a date to be fixed.
