ASHBY PAEDOPHILE JAILED FOR RAPING AND SEXUALLY ASSAULTING BOY
A man accused of sexually assaulting and raping a boy has been sentenced to prison.Matthew Scott, 40, from Hartshorne near Ashby, initiated contact with a 12-year-old through social media by creating a false online identity, leading to a series of criminal acts.
Scott first approached the boy in May of the previous year, using a fake name to establish communication.
Over the course of two weeks, their interaction intensified, culminating in Scott arranging to meet the child at a retail store.
After the meeting, Scott drove the boy to his residence on Woodville Road, where he committed acts of rape and sexual assault.
The boy, distressed by the incident, confided in his parents, which prompted Scott’s immediate arrest the next day and subsequent legal charges.
During the court hearing at Derby Crown Court on March 13, Scott was sentenced to nearly ten years in prison, with an extra year on extended licence.
He was also ordered to adhere to an indefinite Sexual Harm Prevention Order.
Detective Constable Natalie Fletcher from Derbyshire Police commended the boy’s bravery, saying, “I want to thank the boy and his family for their great courage during the investigation and court proceedings.” The case underscores the risks associated with online grooming and underscores the need for vigilance and prompt reporting of suspicious online activity.
