A man has been judged guilty of offenses related to child sexual abuse after a trial at Bristol Crown Court.
On February 4th, a jury convicted 47-year-old Matthew McKenzie from Totterdown, Bristol, on charges including one count of sexual assault against a child and two counts of encouraging a child under 13 to engage in sexual acts.
He has been remanded in custody ahead of a sentencing hearing set for March 17th at the same court.
Evidence presented during the case indicated that in June 2023, McKenzie stayed at a friend’s house in Bristol overnight.
During this visit, he inappropriately touched an eight-year-old girl with his genitals, made her touch his genitals, and offered to take her to the park if she performed oral sex.
The girl promptly told her mother about the incident, which resulted in police arresting McKenzie at the location.
