WILMSLOW MAN JAILED FOR DEADLY VIOLENCE AND MURDER
Matthew Bolland, a resident of Wilmslow, was convicted of unlawfully killing Pamela Ann Mellor, aged 55, after she endured a lengthy and severe assault at a Cheshire flat, police authorities have stated. The victim was described as being targeted by a possessive, jealous, and controlling partner, who murdered her out of suspicion of infidelity.
Bolland, who is 44 years old, has been placed under an indefinite detention order under the Mental Health Act at Chester Crown Court.
The post-mortem examination confirmed that Mellor died from blows inflicted to her face and head and also was strangled; evidence of strangulation was present during the investigation.
Following the attack, Bolland contacted his mother to admit the crime, claiming he believed Mellor had been unfaithful.
Initially confessing to the assault, he later alleged that another man had entered the premises, knocked him out, and caused his injuries while he was unconscious.
Due to mental health concerns, he was deemed unfit for trial, but the jury found him responsible for her unlawful killing.
He is not to be released unless they determine he no longer poses a danger.
