MARTYN RODGER IN OXFORDSHIRE SENTENCED FOR BREACHING DIGITAL DEVICE REGISTRATION ORDER
This is the face of Martyn Rodger, a convicted paedophile from Oxfordshire, who attempted to conceal a new Chromebook from police just weeks after being ordered by the court to register digital devices.
The 26-year-old was spared an immediate prison sentence last August after he was found to have viewed indecent images of children.
However, the judge imposed a sexual harm prevention order to restrict his internet access and to require him to log new digital devices with the authorities.
Rodger breached this order less than a month after it was issued.
His social services-managed finances were used to purchase a new laptop.
When his social worker alerted the police, officers visited his home in Witney on September 16, as the device had not been registered.
Initially, Rodger lied, claiming he had no new computer.
When the police found the Chromebook hidden beneath his mattress, he changed his story, asserting that he intended to register it the following day.
Last week, at Oxford Crown Court, Judge Maria Lamb sentenced him to 18 months in prison.
She stated, "I am quite satisfied you knew perfectly well you should have notified [the police of] the existence of that Chromebook." Rodger’s address is Eastfield Road, Witney.
