MARTIN LYON SENTENCED TO NINE YEARS FOR RAPE IN AMERSHAM AND LONDON

In a significant case that has drawn considerable attention from the local community and law enforcement agencies, Martin Lyon, a 21-year-old man from Finchley Road, London, has been handed a prison sentence of nine years after being found guilty of multiple serious sexual offenses. The conviction stems from a trial held at Aylesbury Crown Court, where a jury deliberated and reached a verdict on February 26, 2014.

According to court records and the prosecution's case, Lyon was convicted on three counts of rape and one count of taking an indecent photograph of a child. The incidents in question occurred in Amersham, a town in Buckinghamshire, where Lyon allegedly assaulted a 16-year-old girl at an address on November 28, 2012. The court heard that Lyon's actions included not only the assault but also the taking of photographs of the victim, which he threatened to publish on social media platforms if she disclosed the abuse to anyone.

The victim, who was only 16 at the time, demonstrated remarkable bravery by reporting the incident to the police and subsequently providing evidence during the trial. Her courage was acknowledged by law enforcement officials and the court, emphasizing the importance of victim support and the serious nature of such crimes.

Detective Constable Thomas Gregory, a member of the Force CID based in Amersham, expressed his thoughts on the case, stating, “Thames Valley Police takes any allegation of sexual offences seriously and I would like to thank every officer who has helped to contribute to this investigation.” He further commented on the significance of the sentence, saying, “The sentence given to Lyon demonstrates that the courts take incidents such as these very seriously. I hope the sentence brings some closure to the victim, who was only 16 at the time. She was incredibly brave to report the offences to the police and then to give evidence at court. I commend the victim for the courage she has demonstrated during this very traumatic period.”
