DUNDEE MAN JAILED FOR CONTROLLING AND VIOLENT ABUSE OF TWO WOMEN
A man named Martin Gray, known for his violent behavior, has received a prison sentence of close to two years after being found guilty of subjecting two single women to severe abuse. The Dundee Sheriff Court was told that Gray was characterized by prosecutors as a 'jealous, violent and aggressive drunk,' who also claimed a conspiracy against him and accused the women of dishonesty in court proceedings.
The court further established that Gray exhibited controlling and jealous tendencies, frequently damaging property belonging to his partners.
As his trial neared its conclusion, the jury rejected his innocence claims and convicted him on charges of stalking and assault.
The first woman experienced sustained abuse from December 2010 to July 2013, which included relentless calls and messages, shouting matches, swearing, name-calling, as well as acts of violence such as punching walls and damaging property.
The second woman was stalked for a year, with the harassment escalating to a violent incident in July 2014 where Gray dictated what she should wear, accessed her social media and phone accounts unlawfully, searched her belongings without consent, restrained her physically, and assaulted her multiple times.
The prosecution painted Gray as a 'jealous, violent and aggressive drunk,' condemning his emotional and physical abuse over several years.
Sheriff Tom Hughes sentenced him to one year and eleven and a half months in prison, emphasizing that society will no longer tolerate such conduct and condemning Gray for blaming his behavior on past partners and alcohol use.
