EDEN MAN ADMITSDOWNLOADING AND SHARING CHILD ABUSE IMAGES
Martin Gray, aged 49, from Mellbecks, Kirkby Stephen, admitted to committing seven offences related to online child abuse images.
These offences include downloading 81 Category A, 80 Category B, and 188 Category C child abuse images over a period from January 7, 2021, to March 27, 2023.
He also possessed an extreme pornographic image depicting a sexual act with a dead animal.
On March 26, 2023, Gray distributed one Category A, one Category B, and three Category C images to others.
He appeared before magistrates at Rickergate court and admitted all charges.
Prosecutor Diane Jackson indicated that a starting sentence of three years in custody is expected, considering his crimes.
She also requested that he be placed on the Sex Offender Register, and his case has been sent to Carlisle Crown Court for sentencing on March 11.
Gray was released on bail with conditions, including no unsupervised contact with children and not residing at any address with a child under 18.
He is expected to be subject to a sexual harm prevention order, and the duration of his registration will be determined at sentencing.
