SEX OFFENDER MARK WILLIS SENTENCED FOR ATTACK IN GLOUCESTERSHIRE
A sex attacker named Mark Willis, aged 40, who launched an assault on a female kickboxer, has been sentenced to four and a half years in prison.
The incident occurred in September 2015 when Willis punched the woman in the face and then climbed on top of her.
However, the victim, who had two-and-a-half years of martial arts training, managed to fight back and place Willis in a headlock until he lost consciousness.
During his sentencing at Bristol Crown Court, Judge William Hart commended her great courage and detailed the attack: "You saw the victim approaching and noticed she had headphones in...
you ducked behind a hedge, into a garden...
You then grabbed her and punched her in the face and hit her repeatedly...
you climbed over her and groped and hit her." Willis was convicted of causing actual bodily harm and pleaded guilty to this charge.
He denied a sexual assault charge but was found guilty by a jury following a trial.
Addressing Willis, the judge stated that he appeared to be seeking out vulnerable women late at night.
Willis has a previous similar conviction and was ordered to serve at least two-thirds of his sentence, sign the sex offenders register, and spend an additional four years on licence due to the perceived danger he posed.
