MARK TOWLER FROM LAKENHEATH JAILED FOR SEXUAL OFFENSES INVOLVING TEENAGE BABYSITTER

In a case that has shocked the local community of Lakenheath, Mark Towler, a 31-year-old resident of Breckland Avenue, was sentenced to two years in prison after being found guilty of indecently assaulting a 15-year-old girl who was babysitting at his home. The incident took place on May 30 of the previous year, and the court proceedings revealed disturbing details about the nature of the offenses.

During the trial at Ipswich Crown Court last month, it was established that Towler's actions occurred at his residence in Lakenheath. The young girl had initially gone there to babysit Towler’s young daughter, but her visit was rendered unnecessary when Towler’s ex-wife decided not to bring the child to his house. Despite this, the girl remained at the property, and during her time there, she experienced an uncomfortable tension with Towler, which she later described in court.

The court heard that Towler, in an apparent attempt to comfort or perhaps manipulate the situation, massaged the girl’s neck and shoulders in his living room. The situation escalated when they moved into Towler’s bedroom, where he touched her inappropriately during what he described as a back massage. The girl, distressed and protesting, left Towler’s house crying, clearly upset by the incident.

In addition to the conviction for indecent assault, Towler was also found guilty of an offense of indecency with a child related to the same girl. The judge, John Holt, handed down a sentence that included a two-year prison term, a three-year extended license period, and placement on the sex offenders’ register for the next ten years. Furthermore, Towler was disqualified from working with children indefinitely, reflecting the severity of his misconduct and the potential risk to others.

As part of the court’s ruling, it was emphasized that Towler remains liable for recall to prison within the next five years if he breaches any of the conditions of his extended license. The case has raised concerns about safeguarding and the importance of vigilance in protecting minors from potential predators within the community of Lakenheath.
