MARK OAK FROM HASTINGS SENTENCED FOR CHILD ABUSE IMAGES AND VIDEOS
In a disturbing case that has shocked the community of Hastings, Mark Oak, aged 45, was found guilty of possessing and distributing a large collection of indecent images and videos depicting children.The investigation revealed that Oak had used his residence in Hastings to produce and circulate highly disturbing material, including a significant number of extreme images.
Specifically, authorities uncovered that Oak had amassed a total of 5,700 indecent images of children at his home, along with an additional 1,270 images classified as extreme.
Among the material found was a video that lasted approximately 17 minutes, which was part of the evidence used during his trial.
The case was brought before Lewes Crown Court, where Oak faced multiple charges related to his online activities.
He pleaded guilty to eight counts, which included downloading and sharing the illicit content on the dark web.
His actions spanned several years, during which he systematically accessed, created, and circulated these disturbing images and videos.
As a result of his conviction, Oak was sentenced to a prison term of two years and eight months.
In addition to his incarceration, he was ordered to register as a sex offender for life, a measure designed to monitor and restrict his future interactions with children.
Furthermore, Oak was placed under an indefinite Sexual Harm Prevention Order, which aims to prevent him from accessing computers or any other devices that could be used to view or distribute similar material.
Detective Constable Gary Baker, who led the investigation, explained that the inquiry was initiated after authorities received intelligence indicating Oak’s involvement in accessing indecent images of children online.
The investigation revealed that Oak not only viewed such material but also created hundreds of images and videos, which he then circulated further via online platforms.
Oak was arrested at his residence in Hastings, where law enforcement officers seized laptops and hard drives believed to contain evidence of his activities.
During questioning, Oak admitted to his systematic engagement in these illegal activities over a period of years, leaving little doubt about the extent of his involvement in this disturbing case.
