MARK NEWSOME FROM ANSTRUTHER FACES COURT OVER STALKING AND VOYEURISM IN FIFE
In a case that has shocked the local community of Anstruther, 46-year-old Mark Newsome, a resident of Milton Crescent, was brought before the sheriff’s court to answer serious allegations of stalking and voyeurism.The incidents, which spanned from November 2017 through April 2018, involved a sustained campaign of harassment and invasive behavior directed at a female victim.
Over the course of six months, Newsome engaged in a series of increasingly invasive acts aimed at the woman.
His actions included accessing her private messages without permission, sending her threatening and intrusive text messages, and secretly using a mobile phone to track her movements via GPS while she was in her car.
These actions demonstrated a calculated effort to monitor and intimidate her, causing significant distress.
One particularly disturbing incident involved Newsome taking a photograph of the woman as she was drying herself after a shower.
This image was captured for his personal use, further emphasizing the sinister nature of his conduct.
Despite the severity of these offenses and the apparent level of planning involved, Newsome was not sentenced to prison.
Instead, the sheriff, James Williamson, imposed a community payback order that includes 12 months of supervision, 180 hours of unpaid work, and a one-year period on the sex offenders register.
During the court proceedings, Sheriff Williamson described Newsome’s actions as “sustained, sophisticated and sinister,” emphasizing that his conduct was not impulsive but carefully thought out and quite serious.
The case has raised concerns about privacy and safety within the local community, highlighting the importance of addressing such invasive behaviors with appropriate legal measures.
