BOYFRIEND CUT HIS PARTNER WITH A STANLEY KNIFE AND BIT HER IN A VICIOUS ATTACK

A man from Canterbury was involved in a severe assault on his girlfriend, involving a knife and a belt, in a particularly violent incident.

Mark Moys, residing on Edgar Road, physically attacked his partner, including punching her and attempting to strangle her during a domestic dispute at her residence earlier in the year.

He also bit her on the forearm, swung a belt at her face, and inflicted a slash wound with a Stanley knife.

Moys was detained in the early hours of Saturday, April 28, and subsequently admitted to charges of assault, unlawful wounding, and making threats to kill.

On Thursday, August 16, he was sentenced to two years and four months imprisonment at Canterbury Crown Court and will serve his sentence in a young offender institution.

Detective Sergeant Matthew Whitlock of Kent Police said: “The victim in this case suffered extensive injuries to her face and body at the hands of a man who clearly cannot control his temper.

“A substantial term of imprisonment means he will no longer be able to cause her any physical harm.

“Kent Police does not tolerate domestic violence and I would like to pay tribute to the victim for having the courage to speak up about the abuse she was suffering." He added: “Her bravery will inspire others in similar situations to do the same, safe in the knowledge that we will support them through the investigation and court process.”
