PORTH MAN JAILED FOR BRUTAL DOMESTIC VIOLENCE AND ASSAULT
A 46-year-old man named Mark Moon has been sentenced to three years in prison after pleading guilty to charges including assault causing actual bodily harm, strangulation, and assault by beating.According to court proceedings, on February 15, 2025, Moon consumed alcohol, which included Stella beer and a full bottle of spirits, before physically attacking his partner.
His actions involved kicking her ribs, causing her to become winded, and inflicting a facial wound that affected her eyesight.
The assault intensified when Moon struck her head against a broken plug socket after she threatened to alert the police.
He then turned his violence towards his daughter, pinning her against a wall and strangling her as she tried to stop him.
During sentencing, Judge Simon Mills described the incident as 'terrifying' and noted Moon’s extensive history of previous convictions for violence, battery, and bodily harm.
The victim revealed that the attack occurred just six days prior to her father’s funeral and had a lasting emotional and physical toll.
Moon, from Cemetery Road in Porth, was also granted a ten-year restraining order to ensure the safety of the victims.
The judge warned that if Moon committed further violence, especially against women in relationships, he would face a very long prison sentence, emphasizing the need for his violent behavior to cease.
