JEALOUS BARROW MAN MARK MOFFATT ATTACKED WOMAN IN STREET
A jealous man assaulted his girlfriend in the street after taking exception to a conversation she was having with a male neighbour, a court heard.Mark Moffatt, of Fenton Street, Barrow, pleaded guilty to one count of assault by beating and was sentenced at South Cumbria Magistrates’ Court.
Some 'heavy drinking' was involved on July 26, 2025.
The court heard Moffatt 'went crazy' before telling his ex: 'You’ve got three seconds to get home now,' then grabbing her by the hair.
The victim expressed feeling unable to speak to neighbors due to his behavior and reported feeling depressed and anxious.
The prosecution highlighted his previous conviction for breaching a domestic violence protection order against the same woman.
The court ordered Moffatt to complete 15 days of rehabilitation, a 90-day alcohol abstinence monitoring requirement, and pay £200 in court costs and a £114 victim surcharge.
