MARK HOGARTH FROM SUNDERLAND SENTENCED FOR SEXUAL ASSAULT IN NEWCASTLE

In a recent court ruling at Newcastle Crown Court, Mark Hogarth, aged 39 and residing in Burnbank, Sunderland, was sentenced to a total of four years and four months in prison after pleading guilty to charges of assault by penetration. According to court proceedings, Hogarth committed the assault against a woman who was vulnerable and in a compromised state. The incident occurred after the woman had been out for the night and was found lying on the street in an alleyway. Witnesses observed her collapse and, under the pretense of offering assistance, Hogarth took advantage of her vulnerable condition. He removed her clothing and sexually assaulted her while she was unconscious, an act that has been described as both predatory and selfish.

Detective Constable Rosie Dixon of Northumbria Police, who led the investigation, publicly condemned Hogarth’s actions. She stated, “Hogarth is clearly a predatory man who was on the lookout for someone vulnerable he could use to satisfy his own selfish sexual desires.” Her comments underscored the seriousness of the crime and the predatory nature of Hogarth’s behavior.

DC Dixon also expressed gratitude towards the members of the public who witnessed the assault and intervened. Their actions were instrumental in enabling Hogarth’s arrest and subsequent court appearance. She emphasized the importance of community vigilance, saying, “Safeguarding is everyone’s business – and you should always speak up if you see something that doesn’t look right.”
