MARK HILL FROM HENBURY SENTENCED FOR CHILD SEX ABUSE IN BRISTOL

In a disturbing case that has shocked the community of Henbury and the wider Bristol area, Mark Hill, a man with a troubling history of sexual offenses against children, has been convicted of multiple serious crimes involving young girls. The proceedings, which took place at Bristol Crown Court, revealed a pattern of abuse that spanned several years and involved multiple victims.

Hill, aged 53 and formerly residing on Station Road in Henbury, admitted to filming himself raping a five-year-old girl last year. Despite this admission, he maintained his innocence regarding allegations involving two other young girls from his past. The court heard that Hill was accused of a series of sexual offenses, including indecent assaults and the production of indecent images of children.

Specifically, Hill faced charges related to one complainant, for whom he was tried on five counts of indecent assault, indecency with a child, and two counts of engaging in sexual activity with a girl under the age of 13 when she was between nine and eleven years old. For the second complainant, he was tried on four charges of sexual activity with a girl aged 13 or 14. After a trial that lasted just over a week, the jury found Hill guilty on all counts.

Judge Michael Longman ordered Hill to be remanded in custody while awaiting a report that will determine his sentence, with the sentencing date to be scheduled in the near future. The prosecution, led by Rupert Lowe, detailed the disturbing timeline of Hill’s actions. Lowe explained that Hill began grooming the first girl when she was just nine years old, starting with innocent gestures such as kissing her and gradually escalating to more serious acts. Hill was accused of using a pencil and his hands to sexually abuse her, coercing her into performing a sex act on him, and ultimately engaging in sexual intercourse with her. Lowe emphasized that Hill threatened the girl, warning her that if she reported him, he would tell her mother about what had happened, effectively silencing her through intimidation.

The case also revealed that approximately twenty years later, Hill, now middle-aged, engaged in similar abusive behavior with a 13-year-old girl. He reportedly initiated kissing her and then engaged in mutual sexual acts, culminating in full sexual intercourse. The first victim described her experience, stating that Hill would often put his arm around her and give her kisses on the lips, which she described as proper French kissing. She explained that the physical contact gradually increased over time, and she felt increasingly comfortable with it, despite the fact that she was only a child. She emphasized that Hill never physically hurt her, but the progression of their interactions was concerning.

The girl recounted how the sexual touching eventually escalated to full sex when she was 11 years old. She expressed her confusion and feelings of strangeness about the situation, questioning whether such behavior was normal. She also revealed that she initially spoke to the police but later retracted her statement, fabricating a story about being raped. However, she eventually provided a truthful account of her abuse, motivated by her desire to confront her trauma and share her experience. Her decision to speak out was influenced by her awareness of a support group for victims of sexual assault, which empowered her to break her silence and seek justice.
