SOUTHPORT MAN JAILED FOR STABBING TEENAGER IN DRUG-FUELED ATTACK
A man named Mark Henderson was sentenced to nine years in prison, with an extended five years on licence, after committing serious crimes against a teenager.Henderson, who was aged 38 and from Albert Road in Southport, met the 18-year-old woman on the dating app Hinge.
They engaged in a casual sexual relationship, and he invited her to his flat in Southport on July 26, 2024.
During their interaction, Henderson became highly paranoid, possibly drug-induced, and refused to let her leave.
Over the course of 24 hours, he robbed her phone, accused her of recording him, and repeatedly stabbed her with a large kitchen knife in a terrifying ordeal.
The victim suffered multiple stab wounds to her head and a severe injury to her leg, resulting in blood loss and her collapse.
Henderson claimed he had been attacked by the woman with a bottle and a drill and told her, 'I will have to kill you now.' The court heard that he appeared to be in drug-induced psychosis, with dilated pupils and a disheveled appearance.
When police and paramedics arrived, Henderson was holding a knife and was in a state of psychosis, stating, 'I'm not a threat to you.
Can you get in, she is dying,' and 'I took the knife off her and tried to kill her.' The victim, who struggled with nightmares, difficulty sleeping, and trauma afterward, described how she felt vulnerable and had not returned to Southport due to the incident.
Henderson was supported by his ex-partner during the court hearing and received a sentence of nine years' imprisonment along with a restraining order to prevent him from contacting the victim or entering her area.
