MARK HAWKES FROM PAGHAM AND SWANSEA SENTENCED FOR SEXUAL ABUSE OF YOUNG GIRL IN SWANSEA VALLEY

In a disturbing case that has resurfaced after years of silence, Mark Anthony Hawkes, a man with a troubling history of sexual offenses, was brought before Swansea Crown Court to face charges related to the abuse of a young girl. The incidents occurred in the Swansea Valley in 2006, but they were not reported or brought to justice at the time. It was only during the recent proceedings that the full extent of Hawkes's misconduct was revealed.

According to court records, Hawkes, who was 34 years old at the time of sentencing, had previously been convicted of four counts of sexual assault involving a girl under the age of 13. The court heard that shortly after his release from prison, where he served a two-year sentence for the sexual assault of a woman in 2005, Hawkes committed these new offenses. The earlier conviction was part of his criminal history, which included a period of detention and subsequent release on license.

The recent allegations detailed that Hawkes subjected a primary school-aged girl to repeated sexual assaults. During the incidents, he performed a sex act on himself while abusing the young girl, an act that caused significant emotional trauma. Hawkes’s defense argued that he continued to deny the allegations, despite the evidence presented. Hawkes, who resides on Stonehill Crescent in Pagham, West Sussex, faced a stern sentence from Recorder Christopher Clee QC.

Additionally, he was subjected to an indefinite sexual harm prevention order, which aims to restrict his contact with vulnerable individuals and monitor his behavior moving forward.
