BRADFORD MAN JAILED FOR SEXUALLY ASSAULTING WOMAN WHILE UNCONSCIOUS
A man who sexually assaulted a woman while she was unconscious has been sentenced to a total of five years in prison by a judge.Judge Ahmed Nadim explained that 52-year-old Mark Gregoire from Wentworth Crescent in Bradford initially groomed the victim—who must remain unnamed for legal reasons—by offering her alcohol, drugs, and flaunting his wealth.
Gregoire degraded the woman by using offensive language and employed various controlling and coercive tactics.
The judge highlighted that Gregoire caused serious harm to the victim, noting her confidence has been greatly damaged and she continues to live in fear and paranoia.
The assault was considered particularly serious because the woman was unconscious during the act.
Gregoire also manipulated her into believing her complaint would be futile and sought to humiliate and degrade her.
After a jury trial, he was convicted of controlling and coercive behavior and two sexual assault charges; he also admitted to possessing Class A and B drugs.
The court sentenced him to two and a half years for controlling and coercive behavior and another two and a half years for the sexual offences, totaling five years.
Gregoire must register as a sex offender for life and is subject to a 10-year restraining order preventing contact with the complainant.
His drug possession charges did not carry separate penalties.
