MARK DIXEY SHOTTON PERVERT SENTENCED FOR SEX OFFENCES AND SENDING PORN TO POLICE IN NORTH WALES

In August 2018, a disturbing case involving Mark Dixey, a resident of Shotton, unfolded in the courts as he was sentenced to five years in prison for a series of serious sexual offences and malicious communications directed at multiple victims across North Wales.

His criminal activities began when he sent explicit pornography to North Wales Police, falsely claiming it was from a local businessman he had never met. This act was part of a broader pattern of disturbing behavior that was revealed during the court proceedings at Mold Crown Court. The police investigation uncovered that Dixey, aged 43 and living on Beaconsfield Road in Shotton, had engaged in a campaign of harassment and indecency over a period spanning from October 1, 2016, to May 25, 2017.

One of the most alarming aspects of his offending involved placing advertisements in a local newsagent, where he falsely claimed to be a policewoman seeking a female babysitter aged between 14 and 17. When a woman responded to his ad, Dixey proceeded to send her offensive messages and images, escalating his harassment by demanding a staggering £50,000 from her to cease his actions.

Further evidence revealed that Dixey had mailed a letter containing obscene material to a woman in Milton Keynes, despite having no connection to her. He also sent explicit sexual messages to another woman and attempted to falsely implicate someone else as the perpetrator of his crimes. These actions demonstrated a pattern of malicious intent and a blatant disregard for the victims involved.

Authorities were able to link Dixey to the offending through CCTV footage obtained from local shops, which connected him to the mobile phones used to send the messages. During a search of his residence, police discovered indecent images of children, adding a grave dimension to his criminal profile.

In court, Dixey pleaded guilty to a total of 16 charges, which included eight counts of sending indecent or offensive messages, three counts of perverting the course of justice, three counts of encouraging another person to commit an offence, and two counts of making indecent images of children. His criminal record also includes convictions from 2009 for similar offences such as sending obscene material, harassment, exposure, and perverting the course of justice, for which he received a suspended sentence.

Judge David Hale addressed the court, condemning Dixey’s actions as a “catalogue of rather perverse offences.” The judge noted that Dixey had failed to provide any explanation for his conduct and had shown no remorse. Despite previous convictions and health issues, including caring for his mother, Dixey had not learned his lesson, and his behavior had resumed.

As part of his sentencing, Dixey was ordered to serve an additional year on licence upon release from prison. He was also subject to a sexual harm prevention order, a restraining order preventing him from approaching his victims, and has been registered indefinitely on the sex offenders register, reflecting the severity of his crimes and the ongoing risk he poses to the community.
