MARK CRANEY FROM KNOWLE CAUGHT WITH OVER 1700 INDECENT CHILD IMAGES IN WARWICK

In a case that has shocked the local community, Mark Craney, a 33-year-old resident of Knowle, was found to be in possession of a disturbing collection of indecent images of children. The incident came to light during a police investigation at his home on Mockley Wood Road, where authorities seized his computer equipment.

Prosecutor Mark Heywood detailed that Craney’s computer contained a staggering total of 1,793 images depicting minors in various inappropriate contexts. Among these, approximately 930 images showed children either nude or in sexually suggestive poses, while an additional 171 images depicted children engaged in sexual acts.

During the court proceedings at Warwick Crown Court, Craney admitted to having images of children on his device but attempted to justify his actions by claiming that a virus from his broadband connection was responsible for the presence of these images. He stated, “I have got a virus from Broadband,” in an effort to deny responsibility for the material found on his computer.

Despite his claims, the court found sufficient evidence to convict Craney on 16 charges of making indecent images of children through downloading them onto his computer. The case has raised serious concerns about online safety and the protection of minors, with the community awaiting further legal actions and potential sentencing.
