FATHER-OF-THREE MARCUS STROUD JAILED FOR BREACHING COURT ORDER WITH PROHIBITED INTERNET ACCESS
A father of three from Brislington, Marcus Stroud, was sentenced to jail after failing to report his internet-connected phones to authorities.
According to Bristol Crown Court, he violated the terms of a Sexual Harm Prevention Order by not declaring the devices.
The 29-year-old, residing on Broomhill Road, admitted to two breaches of the SHPO along with another charge for not informing police of his location.
Judge James Patrick sentenced him to 28 months in prison, warning Stroud that continued offending would result in longer detention periods.
The court heard that police found an unreported internet-capable Samsung phone in late January.
When questioned in early February, Stroud claimed he had purchased the phone the previous day, but evidence showed he had been using it for over a week.
Additional breaches involved making Facebook posts and going missing from his home while in possession of a phone for which he had provided an incorrect PIN.
His defense cited his complicated personal history, health issues, and emotional struggles as factors influencing his conduct.
