LUTFUR RAHMAN
Lutfur Rahman, residing on Brinsworth Road in Rotherham, was convicted of 18 counts related to sexual offences following a trial at Doncaster Crown Court that concluded on Tuesday.
South Yorkshire Police commended the courage of the two victims, who came forward after enduring years of severe abuse.
Authorities reported that Rahman, who received a 26-year sentence along with an additional two-year license period, is expected to spend the remainder of his life in prison.
The jury found Rahman guilty of multiple charges, including two counts of rape, seven counts of indecent assault, and four counts of sexual activity with a minor.
Police stated that the victims reported the incidents in December 2022, prompting an investigation by Rotherham’s child exploitation team.
Detective Constable Rachel Watts, who led the case, expressed her support: “Rahman targeted two vulnerable young girls, subjecting them to prolonged and horrific abuse.
“I want to acknowledge the remarkable bravery of the victims, who had to relive these terrible crimes during the court process, especially as Rahman refused to admit his guilt.”
