MAN, 33, SENT TO PRISON FOR CHILD SEX OFFENCE AGAINST 11-YEAR-OLD GIRL
A 33-year-old man has been sentenced to prison after attempting to engage an 11-year-old girl in inappropriate sexual contact.Luke Morgan was observed approaching the girl in his black Honda Civic on Robinson Road, Rushden, during the morning of March 18.
The girl was walking her family’s dog when Morgan called out to her from his vehicle.
He shouted at her, asking her to touch him in a sexual manner while pointing toward his groin area.
When she refused and kept walking, Morgan followed in his car, urging her to comply with phrases like “Oh please go on do it” and “Come on, do it.
It’ll make my day.” The girl fled and returned home, where she confided in her parents.
They immediately contacted the police.
Officers conducted house-to-house inquiries and obtained CCTV footage showing the incident, which led to Morgan’s identification as the driver.
Morgan was arrested shortly afterward in the parking lot of Asda nearby.
During his arrest, officers found a lock knife on him.
The girl participated in a photo lineup and correctly identified Morgan among nine men.
He faced charges including inciting a girl under 13 to engage in sexual activity and possession of a knife in public.
Morgan pleaded guilty to these charges in Northampton Crown Court in June.
He was later sentenced there on July 3 to four years and eight months in prison.
In addition to his prison sentence, Morgan was placed on the Sex Offenders’ Register indefinitely and was subject to a restraining order and a Sexual Harm Prevention Order.
A victim impact statement read at the sentencing described the profound effect on the girl’s family.
Her mother stated, “My daughter left the house innocent that morning, but her life changed dramatically upon her return.
Despite 11 years of keeping her safe, that was taken in mere minutes.” Detective Constable Robyn Stannard of the Child Abuse Investigation Unit praised the girl’s bravery, emphasizing that her courage led to Morgan’s arrest.
She highlighted ongoing efforts to combat violence against women and girls, reaffirming Northamptonshire Police’s commitment.
Stannard concluded by noting the girl’s resilience and bright future, expressing hope that she can move forward with her family’s support, recognizing her strength and potential.
