LANCING MAN SENTENCED TO OVER SIX YEARS FOR DOMESTIC ABUSE AND THREATS
A man from Lancing has been convicted of serious domestic abuse and related threats.On September 17, 2024, a woman in her 30s reported that Luke Maddran, aged 38, had threatened to kill her and her children while on his way to do so.
She revealed that over approximately five years, she endured repeated physical assaults and psychological abuse from Maddran, including multiple violent attacks and terrifying threats to kill her, her family, and kidnapping her son.
Maddran, who has no fixed address, also threatened to kill several members of his own family, whom he believed he could act on.
An urgent police search was initiated, and Maddran was arrested the same day.
He faced multiple charges, including two counts of intentional strangulation, coercive and controlling behaviour, causing actual bodily harm, and making threatening communications.
On February 20, Maddran pleaded guilty to all charges at Hove Trial Centre.
Subsequently, on February 24, he was sentenced to six years and two months in prison, with a restraining order against all victims and their children, and was ordered not to enter West Sussex for 14 years.
Detective Inspector Matt Phelps described Maddran as an extremely dangerous individual who made vile threats and caused years of psychological torment to the victim and her family, emphasizing the courage of those who reported the abuse and encouraging other victims to come forward.
