STALKER EX TURNED UP AT WOMAN'S HOUSE IN EARLY HOURS
At Blackburn Magistrates' Court, it was heard that Luke Brooksbank demanded information about a different man, despite having been separated from his partner for over a year.Brooksbank, 29, residing on Green End Avenue in Earby, admitted to the offense of stalking.
As part of his sentence, he was placed under a community order lasting two years, which included a requirement to attend a 15-day rehabilitation course through the Building Better Relationships Programme, a six-month drug rehabilitation program, and 100 hours of unpaid work.
Additional orders included the payment of £85 in costs, a surcharge of £114 for the victim, and a restraining order prohibiting contact for two years.
District Judge Alexandra Preston noted she had reviewed the details of the threatening and insulting messages sent by Brooksbank.
She stated, “You then turned up at her address in the early hours of the morning,” She emphasised that the couple had separated over a year prior and that their relationship was over.
“She is entitled to move on and do whatever she wants with her life.
That is up to her and nothing to do with you.” Prosecutor Scott Parker explained that despite the separation, Brooksbank continued to harass his ex-partner and would visit her home in Barnoldswick at night.
He made an early-morning phone call during which he called her a “slag,” suspecting she was engaging with someone else, and threatened to report her to social services in an attempt to have her children removed.
Mr.
Parker described an incident at 12:10 am on July 14 when the victim was asleep.
Brooksbank entered her house, turned on the light, and demanded to know about her relationship with another man.
She asked him to leave and followed him downstairs.
When she contacted police, Brooksbank departed.
Defense lawyer Peter King said Brooksbank owned the house and had a key to the back door.
He added that his client was committed to changing his behaviour, promising he would leave his ex-partner alone and focus on moving forward.
