A man from Thatcham has received a suspended prison sentence following an incident of domestic violence.
Lucian Barnea, 26, residing at The Turnery, pleaded not guilty to assaulting Alana Wilkins at his home on April 1.
However, the reading magistrates found him guilty on Monday, May 14, 2018.
The court instructed the preparation of pre-sentencing reports, and Mr Barnea was released on conditional bail during this period.
During a sentencing hearing held on Thursday, May 17, the court sentenced him to eight weeks in prison, but the sentence was suspended for 18 months.
In addition, Mr Barnea was mandated to participate in a 'building better relationships' programme and to be subject to a period of supervision.
He was also ordered to pay £150 in compensation to Ms Wilkins along with £350 in legal costs.
A restraining order was issued prohibiting Mr Barnea from making any form of contact with Ms Wilkins, directly or indirectly, and this order will remain in effect indefinitely.
