LUCASZ WESELOWSKI SENTENCED TO 14 YEARS FOR RAPE IN STOKE-ON-TRENT

In a recent and highly significant case, Lucasz Wesolowski, a taxi driver from Stoke-on-Trent, has been handed down a prison sentence of 14 years after being convicted of raping a woman. The conviction followed a detailed trial where the victim, whose identity remains protected, recounted the traumatic experience of being assaulted by Wesolowski in Stoke-on-Trent. During her victim impact statement, she described her ordeal as one of profound abuse, revealing that she had struggled to suppress the painful memories associated with the attack. She expressed her hope that her testimony would serve as a catalyst for other women to come forward and seek justice against sexual offenders.

The court heard that Wesolowski's criminal history includes a previous conviction from 2020, where he received a nine-year sentence for a sex crime and false imprisonment. That earlier case was also linked to the victim recognizing him as her attacker, which led to his conviction. During the current trial, Wesolowski pleaded guilty to charges of rape and attempted rape, acknowledging his guilt in the court proceedings. Prosecutor Barry White underscored the fact that the victim did not give her consent, emphasizing the non-consensual nature of the assault.

Adding to the gravity of the case, the court was presented with a statement from another woman, a recorder named Julian Taylor, who recounted an attempted rape by Wesolowski on a different occasion. Wesolowski's sentencing mandates that he serve at least two-thirds of his 14-year term before being eligible for parole or early release. As part of his ongoing punishment, he has been placed on the Sex Offenders' Register for life. Currently, he is incarcerated at HMP Dovegate, where he has participated in various educational courses and maintained a record of positive conduct.
