LIONEL HEALES FROM GREAT WAKERING ESCAPES JAIL AFTER DOWNLOADING OVER 1,000 CHILD INDECENT IMAGES

In a recent case heard at Basildon Crown Court, Lionel Heales, a 64-year-old resident of Great Wakering, was found guilty of downloading a substantial number of indecent images of children.

The investigation revealed that Heales had accessed and stored over 1,000 such images, some of which fell into the most severe and serious categories of child exploitation material.

Despite the gravity of his actions, Heales was spared immediate imprisonment.

Instead, he was handed an eight-month prison sentence, which was suspended for a period of two years.

This means that he will not serve time in prison unless he commits another offence within that period.

The court also imposed additional requirements aimed at addressing his behavior and preventing future offenses.

Among these measures, Heales was ordered to participate in an internet sex offenders treatment programme, designed to help him understand and manage his impulses.

He was also subjected to supervised contact, ensuring that his interactions are monitored and controlled.

Furthermore, he is required to register as a sex offender for the next ten years, a move that underscores the seriousness with which authorities are treating cases involving child exploitation.

The images in question were downloaded over a two-year period, from July 2012 to July 2014.

A significant portion of these images was classified in the most serious category, highlighting the disturbing nature of the material involved.

Authorities reiterated their unwavering commitment to safeguarding children and combating child sexual exploitation, emphasizing that such crimes are taken very seriously and that offenders will face appropriate legal consequences.
