LEWIS WESTBROOK CAUGHT IN DIBDEN WITH INDECENT CHILD IMAGES AND BREACHES CONDITIONS
In a disturbing case that has shocked the community of Dibden, Lewis Westbrook, a 20-year-old resident, has been found guilty of serious breaches related to indecent images of children and violations of his legal obligations. The incident unfolded after Westbrook was initially convicted in June 2017 on six counts of possessing indecent images and five charges of possessing extreme pornography. Despite serving his sentence under a community order, he was under ongoing surveillance and routine checks by authorities. In a subsequent investigation, officers visited Westbrook’s residence to conduct a standard review of his mobile phone, which was part of the conditions attached to his community order. During this visit, Westbrook provided false information to the officers, denying certain activities and attempting to conceal the contents of his device. It was only later, in February, that a thorough examination of his phone revealed the presence of three Category A indecent films. These films included extremely disturbing content, with some depicting a young child being raped, a revelation that deeply alarmed the authorities and the court.
The court proceedings revealed that Westbrook was under investigation for other concerning, though not criminal, activities, including an attempt to meet a teenager. However, he was ultimately found not guilty of those specific charges. Nonetheless, the police’s investigation led to a search of Westbrook’s home in Dibden, where his mobile phone was seized and examined. Prosecutor Daniel Sawyer confirmed that the videos were discovered during this search.
Further complicating his case, Westbrook had been using multiple aliases online, such as “Lewis Williams” and “Lewis Ericson,” which violated the notification requirements of the sex offenders’ register. This breach added to the severity of his violations, highlighting a pattern of deceit and non-compliance.
It was also disclosed during the court proceedings that Westbrook suffers from learning difficulties and mental health issues, factors that the court considered during sentencing. Ultimately, Westbrook, of Ocknell Grove, Dibden, pleaded guilty to two charges of breaching his conditions, possessing indecent images, and possessing cannabis. The court sentenced him to 12 months in prison, suspended for two years. As part of his sentence, he is required to complete 150 hours of unpaid work and participate in 60 days of rehabilitation activities, emphasizing the seriousness of his offenses and the need for corrective measures.
