LEWIS KILLIP FROM BARROW SENTENCED FOR SEXUAL HARM ORDER BREACHES IN PRESTON

A resident of Barrow, Lewis Killip, has been handed a significant prison sentence after being found guilty of multiple violations related to a Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO).

On April 10th, at Preston Crown Court, the 52-year-old, who resides on Vernon Street in Barrow, was sentenced to two years and four months behind bars.

The court's decision followed his conviction for breaching the terms of an existing SHPO, neglecting to fulfill notification obligations for the Sex Offenders Register, and possessing indecent images of children.

The case against Killip gained momentum after authorities received crucial intelligence from an online child sexual exploitation group in December 2024.

A member of this group reported that Killip was using an online alias to communicate and was attempting to contact a decoy account operated by the group.

This information prompted further police investigations, which ultimately led to his arrest on January 23rd, 2025.

During the arrest, law enforcement officers seized two mobile phones from Killip’s residence, though the details of these devices have not been publicly disclosed.

The police confirmed that Killip was fully aware of his obligations as a registered sex offender and the restrictions imposed by the court.

A spokesperson for Cumbria Police emphasized the seriousness of the case, stating, “Killip was fully aware of the requirements of him being a named person on the Sex Offenders Register and the terms of the prevention order imposed against him.

He is clearly a risk to young people and went to great lengths to conceal his identity online and acquire two mobile phones.” The police representative further explained their ongoing efforts to monitor and manage individuals subject to such orders, highlighting their commitment to public safety.

“We work hard to monitor and manage people who are subject to such orders to assess and manage the risk that they pose to the public and to ensure that they are held to account for any breaches of court orders that are issued to assist in managing their risk, and to ensure that the public is safe from harm.” He concluded with a stern warning: “If anyone is found to breach the terms of these preventative orders, we will find them, and we take a zero-tolerance approach.

I hope this sentencing shows how seriously we take the management of sex offenders.”
