ROSSENDALE MAN GUILTY OF BREACHING RESTRAINING ORDER AMID FIXATION ON EX-PARTNER
The article reports that Lewis James Pickup, aged 22 and residing in Old Street, Newchurch, Rossendale, appeared before Blackburn magistrates.
He pleaded guilty to breaching a restraining order, which had been imposed on him on February 12.
The court heard that Pickup began contacting a woman he had a one-night stand with back in November, just a day after the restraining order was issued.
His communication, primarily via social media, continued until his arrest on February 25.
The magistrates learned that Pickup had developed a 'fixation' on the woman and made strange comments about 'their baby' and that 'daddy is coming for baby.' However, the prosecutor, Miss Dixon, clarified that the woman had no child with Pickup and there was no baby expected.
Pickup later claimed that the woman had contacted him to discuss baby names, a statement contested by the prosecutor.
The court was informed that Pickup, who has a limited criminal record mostly related to his former partner, received a community order for 24 months, a fine of £40, and was ordered to pay £85 in costs plus a £95 victim surcharge.
His defense lawyer, Richard Prew, stated that Pickup had been diagnosed with Autism two months prior and that mental health services were involved in his case.
Prew emphasized that Pickup is a troubled young man and indicated that his behaviors may have been influenced by his mental health condition.
