LEWIS GALLANT OF WILLINGTON FACING SENTENCE FOR DOMESTIC OFFENCES
A County Durham man will be sentenced next month after admitting domestic violence offences, mostly committed last year.Lewis Gallant, appeared at a Durham Crown Court plea hearing, via video link from Holme House Prison, at Stockton, where he has been held on remand.
The 35-year-old defendant of Ash Drive, Willington, previously admitted assault causing actual bodily harm, relating to the throwing of a set of car keys at a woman.
But at the plea hearing, itself, he also put in a guilty plea to controlling and coercive behaviour in an intimate or family relationship in that between January 2020 and December 19 last year he monitored the movements and phone of the victim, made threats to kill himself, and attended the homes of the victim’s relatives if she was there.
He also admitted non-fatal strangulation of her between March and December last year.
Judge Nathan Adams said as a result of those pleas a previously pinpointed trial date can be vacated.
All parties agreed on a sentencing date on Friday April 24 and the defendant was remanded to remain in custody until the date.
