LEWIS DAVEY FROM CIRENCESTER JAILED FOR SEXUAL ASSAULT AND VOYEURISM IN GLOUCESTERSHIRE
The individual known as Lewis Davey, a 51-year-old man from the Cirencester area, has been publicly identified following his recent conviction and sentencing related to serious sexual offenses. Gloucestershire police released a photograph of Davey, who resides on Bowly Crescent in Siddington, as part of their efforts to inform the public about his criminal history. On Friday, October 25, Davey was sentenced at Gloucester Crown Court to serve an eight-year prison term for the sexual assault of a young girl under the age of 13, along with an additional charge of voyeurism. The voyeurism charge stemmed from an incident on the same day, where he was found guilty of observing an individual engaged in a private act without their consent. The court's decision reflects the severity of his offenses and the need to protect the community, especially vulnerable minors.
During the trial, which lasted four days and concluded on September 19, Davey maintained a plea of not guilty to both charges. However, the jury found him guilty of all counts, leading to his substantial prison sentence. The court also imposed an extended license period of one year following his release, ensuring continued supervision and monitoring.
In addition to his imprisonment, Davey was subjected to a Sexual Harm Prevention Order that will remain in effect for 15 years from the date of his conviction. This order explicitly prohibits him from having unsupervised contact with any child under the age of 16, with certain exceptions. These exceptions include incidental contact that cannot be reasonably avoided during daily activities and situations where he has obtained explicit written consent from the child's parent or guardian, who must be fully aware of his convictions and have received social services' approval.
Furthermore, Davey has been registered on the sex offenders register, a measure designed to facilitate ongoing monitoring and community safety. The court's rulings underscore the seriousness of his offenses and the importance of safeguarding minors from potential harm. His case serves as a stark reminder of the ongoing efforts by law enforcement and judicial authorities in Gloucestershire to combat sexual crimes and protect vulnerable populations.
