LESZEK MARKOWSKI FROM FLINT SENTENCED FOR CHILD PORNOGRAPHY AND EXTREME IMAGES
In a case that has shocked the community of Flint, Leszek Markowski has been sentenced to eight months in prison after being found guilty of possessing a vast collection of illegal and highly disturbing images and videos. The investigation revealed that over an 11-year period, Markowski downloaded a staggering total of 4,766 indecent images and films on two separate computer devices. Most of these illicit materials consisted of child sexual abuse images and movies, which are considered among the most serious forms of illegal content. In addition to these, authorities discovered that Markowski also possessed 23 images and videos depicting bestiality, further highlighting the disturbing nature of his collection.
During the sentencing hearing at Mold Crown Court, Judge Rhys Rowlands addressed Markowski directly, stating, “Some of the descriptions are truly appalling and these offences were committed over several years. It is worrying that it appears from the pre-sentence report that you have limited insight into how harmful your behaviour has been.”
The police executed a search warrant at Markowski’s residence on Chester Road, Flint, where they confiscated two electronic devices for forensic analysis. The subsequent investigation uncovered a horrifying quantity of illegal content. Specifically, the forensic experts identified 599 images and films classified as Category A, indicating the most severe level of illegality. Additionally, 142 items fell into Category B, and a further 4,025 images and videos were categorized as Category C, which still constitutes illegal material.
Judge Rowlands emphasized that these figures represented only the “tip of the iceberg,” as investigators also found approximately 70,000 images and movies that had not been fully viewed, some of which were illegal. This suggests a far more extensive collection than initially apparent, raising serious concerns about the scale of Markowski’s activities.
Markowski, aged 44, maintained that his sexual interests were limited to girls aged 16 and over. He pleaded guilty to three counts of making indecent photographs of a child, covering the period from July 2007 to October of the previous year. He also admitted to possessing a prohibited image of a child from April 2010 to October last year, along with extreme pornographic images from January 2009 to October last year.
His defense lawyer, Robin Boag, stated that Markowski has the support of his wife, which was noted during the proceedings. Despite this, the court found the offences to be too grave for anything less than a custodial sentence. In addition to his prison term, Markowski was subjected to a Sexual Harm Prevention Order for ten years and was ordered to register as a sex offender, ensuring ongoing monitoring of his activities and compliance with legal restrictions.
