BRISTOL MAN SENTENCED TO NINE YEARS FOR HISTORIC SEX OFFENSES
A man has been sentenced to nine years in prison for historical sex offenses committed in the late 20th century.Leroy Hall, a resident of Easton on Chaplin Road, was convicted by Bristol Crown Court on several charges, including rape, false imprisonment, and indecent assault, involving two women.
The first victim, aged 17 at the time, was abducted in Bristol during the late 1980s when Hall drove her to the Eastville district, where he subjected her to sexual assault.
She came forward in 2017 after recognizing Hall from a newspaper photograph.
She testified that she continues to feel anger and that her life has been deeply affected by the incident, mentioning she reflects on it every day.
In her victim personal statement, she said, “I am still angry I have to go through therapy, and I still think about what happened to me every day of my life.
I want the person who raped me to understand that what he did all those years ago has affected my life and that I will never be the same person again.” Additionally, Hall was convicted of false imprisonment and indecent assault of a second woman during the mid-1990s.
This woman, then in her 20s, was offered a lift by Hall in Stokes Croft but was taken against her will across Bristol and assaulted.
Detective Rog Ibrahim of Avon and Somerset Police commented that the investigation and court proceedings were approached with the utmost seriousness.
He appreciated the victims' courage in coming forward and reassured the public that any reports of sexual offenses—no matter when they occurred—are taken seriously and are subject to thorough investigation.
