OFFENDER JAILED FOR CONTROLLING ABUSE AND GBH IN BRISTOL
During a court session, it was revealed that Ibrahim Sanad, who entered the United Kingdom unlawfully in 2015, told a woman he intended to make her 'the perfect Muslim wife.' He exercised control over her through both emotional and physical abuse, closely monitoring her activities, regulating her clothing choices, and instructing her to sit 'like a dog' in front of men.He also forbade her from speaking to anyone or showering alone.
Sanad was known to drink alcohol and use drugs, and he engaged in violent assaults, beating her and preventing her from seeking help.
She eventually escaped by grabbing his private parts and fleeing to her sister.
Sanad admitted guilt on charges of controlling behavior and causing grievous bodily harm, resulting in a sentence of two years and nine months imprisonment handed down by Mr.
Ignatius Hughes QC.
Additionally, a five-year restraining order was issued to prevent him from any contact with her.
Sanad, a Syrian national who had entered the UK illegally, experienced a traumatic childhood after witnessing his parents' murder and trained as a barber following his escape from Syria.
His criminal record includes threats, possession of a knife, and battery.
The court acknowledged his psychological struggles, including anxiety and anger issues, which may have been linked to his early life trauma.
