LEON DAVIES FROM HAMPSHIRE JAILED FOR OFFENCES JUST DAYS AFTER RELEASE FROM PRISON

Leon Davies, a resident of Oakley in Hampshire, has been sentenced to prison following a series of criminal activities committed shortly after his release from incarceration. The 27-year-old, who resides on Sycamore Tree Road in Oakley, was taken into custody for failing to adhere to mandatory sexual offender notification requirements, alongside other criminal behaviors.

Davies appeared before Basingstoke Magistrates Court on Monday, June 9, where the details of his recent offenses were laid out. It was revealed that he is listed on the sexual offenders registry due to an indecent exposure conviction in 2024. As part of his legal obligations, he was required to register his whereabouts with the police within three days of his release from prison. However, Davies admitted to violating this condition by neglecting to register within the stipulated timeframe.

He was released from custody on Thursday, May 29. The very next day, and on the following day, Davies engaged in thefts at the One Stop convenience store situated on Oakley Lane, Oakley. Specifically, he stole alcohol from the store on two separate occasions, actions that directly contravened a Criminal Behaviour Order (CBO) issued in 2024. This order was put in place following previous convictions for shoplifting on two separate occasions, and it explicitly prohibited certain behaviors within the premises.

The terms of the Criminal Behaviour Order mandated that Davies must select items such as products in a basket or trolley and demonstrate his ability to pay for them. Additionally, the order required him to leave the store if he was unable to pay or if he engaged in further misconduct. Despite these restrictions, Davies continued to breach the order, leading to his arrest and subsequent sentencing.

In total, Davies was sentenced to 40 weeks in prison for his multiple violations. Inspector Charlie Ilderton commented on the case, emphasizing the seriousness of the offenses. He stated, “Davies was in court for a number of offences and he now has to face the consequences of his actions. Firstly, it is an offence for sex offenders to not comply with their notification requirements, and we take the management of that extremely seriously. We also know the impact that Leon Davies’ shoplifting has had on businesses and shop workers in the district.”

Authorities have underscored the importance of strict enforcement of legal obligations for offenders, especially those with prior convictions, to prevent further criminal activity and protect the community.
