2009: PRISON OFFICER IS JAILED FOR HIS PARTNER’S MURDER
A 36-year-old prison officer has received a life sentence after being convicted of murdering his girlfriend by assault.
Lee Shaun Lucas, of Park Road, Golborne, told authorities he found Helen Lucas, aged 45, unresponsive at their residence following an evening out.
Nevertheless, investigators quickly determined that his story was false, based on the severe injuries she sustained.
During a court hearing, Lucas pleaded guilty to her murder and was sentenced at Liverpool Crown Court on Monday to a minimum of 16 years in prison.
The autopsy confirmed that Helen Lucas, who was also working as a prison officer at Risley in Warrington, died from injuries to her head and neck.
