LEE PROCTOR FROM ORMSKIRK SENTENCED FOR SEXUAL ABUSE OF 7-YEAR-OLD GIRL IN LIVERPOOL
In a case that has shocked the community of Ormskirk and the wider Liverpool area, Lee Proctor, a 39-year-old man, was sentenced to a total of three years and four months in prison after admitting to the sexual abuse of a young girl aged just seven years old.The disturbing incidents took place over a span of a few months, specifically between July and September of the previous year, and involved two separate acts of abuse committed by Proctor.
Following the first incident, Proctor engaged the young girl in a conversation, asking her if they could keep the matter a secret, referring to it as “their little secret.” However, the girl, showing remarkable courage and awareness, immediately confided in her mother about what had happened.
Her mother, upon learning of the distressing details, promptly contacted the police to report the abuse, leading to Proctor’s arrest and subsequent court proceedings.
During the hearing at Liverpool Crown Court, Judge David Aubrey, QC, addressed the court and delivered a stern judgment.
He stated that the only plausible explanation for Proctor’s actions was an “unhealthy interest towards the victim,” highlighting the severity and disturbing nature of the offences.
Proctor, who resides on Brookhouse Road in Ormskirk, pleaded guilty to charges of sexual assault and engaging in sexual activity with a child.
As part of his sentence, he was ordered to register as a sex offender for life and was subjected to an indefinite Sexual Offences Prevention Order, which aims to restrict his activities and protect the community.
Prosecutor Henry Riding provided details of the case, emphasizing that the offences occurred over a period of several months.
The young girl recounted that the abuse happened on two separate occasions, and after the second incident, she confided in her mother.
The court was told that her personality had noticeably changed since the incidents, indicating the profound impact of the abuse.
Defence lawyer Michael Hagerty stated that Proctor, who has no previous convictions related to sexual offences, claimed that both incidents occurred on the same night.
He described Proctor’s actions as “wholly out of character” and expressed that his client wishes to offer a sincere apology for his conduct.
The court’s decision reflects the gravity of the offences and the need to safeguard vulnerable individuals from potential harm in the future.
